My bio
My name is Brad Bruggeman, MD, and I am a clinical assistant professor in the University of Florida Division of Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology. I also serve as the clerkship director for third-year medical students. I am a proud Gator through and through: I completed my undergraduate studies and medical degree jointly at UF as part of the Medical Honors Program, graduating from the UF College of Medicine with honors in research. I also completed my residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at UF.
My primary academic focus is squarely within medical education. I teach in several medical student courses and serve on multiple institutional education committees at UF. I have presented my research on the third-year medical student clerkship at numerous national conferences. I am the grateful recipient of the Golden Apple Teaching Award each year since 2015. As a resident, I was awarded UF's Society of Teaching Scholars Outstanding Resident Teacher Award and the department's Resident Educator of the Year Award. I was inducted to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society in recognition of my commitment to education, and in my final year of residency, I served as education chief resident.
My clinical interests include diagnosis and management of cervical dysplasia and pre-cancers, pelvic prolapse and incontinence, laparoscopic and vaginal surgery, and pregnancy care. I am the director of the department’s Colposcopy and LEEP clinics, and I am involved in multiple quality improvement and educational projects in this area.
As a physician, my goal is to take care of each patient as I would want my wife or mother cared for, striving each day to deliver high-quality care while developing strong patient relationships based on mutual trust and caring. I am interested in global health, spending one week each year performing gynecologic surgery as part of a team of Honduran missionary surgeons.
In my free time, I enjoy chasing around my three-year-old daughter, traveling with my wife to the U.S. national parks and around the world, snow skiing and raising backyard chickens.
