Vascular Surgeon
My bio
My name is Martin Back, MD, and my interests in cardiovascular physiology and technological innovations managing vascular diseases led me to become vascular surgeon. I am a professor of surgery and the chief of the University of Florida division of vascular surgery and endovascular therapy, and take a special interest in leading a vascular team. I treat patients for complex vascular conditions and my research interest is in complex aortic intervention.
I earned my medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and I completed a general surgery residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and a peripheral vascular surgery fellowship at the UF College of Medicine.
Previously, I was a professor of surgery at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. I also served as the chief of vascular surgery at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, as well as the co-director of the noninvasive vascular laboratories at the James Haley V.A. and the USF division of vascular and endovascular surgery.
I am a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of several professional societies and associations, including the Society for Vascular Surgery, the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery, the Society of University Surgeons and the Association of VA Surgeons. I served as president of the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, now nationally known as the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society, and the Florida Vascular Society.
Additionally, I have served on the board of directors and executive committee of the Society for Vascular Surgery and on the editorial board of the Journal Vascular Surgery. I have more than 140 publications in peer-reviewed vascular journals and more than 25 chapters in vascular textbooks
I enjoy keeping up with hobbies in my spare time, including fishing, hiking, cooking and traveling.
