What is a stroke?
Stroke is a very serious medical emergency that occurs when blood flow is cut off to an area of the brain — a literal ‘brain attack.’ Without blood flow, brain cells are deprived of oxygen and begin to die. This means that the abilities controlled by those areas of the brain, such as memory and muscle control, are lost.
Stroke can happen to anyone at any time. If you think someone is having a stroke, call 911 immediately.

Stroke treatment
When a stroke happens, you don’t have time to waste – You’ll want to call 911 and go straight to an emergency room for the most advanced care. We boast a variety of revolutionary treatments for strokes, including tPA, a clot-busting intravenous medication. Our patients also have access to a unique multidisciplinary team of specialists and the code stroke system, which diagnoses stroke prior to arrival in the E.R. Within minutes, the hospital’s response team is able to perform neurological exams, blood tests and CT scans.
