My bio

As a clinical professor within a leading division of gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition, I am impressed by the state-of-the-art computerized video endoscopy suites at UF Health Shands Hospital and the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center that offer practical value in solving problems. I treat patients for various liver diseases and teach preventive care for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. My research is focused on the risk of surgery for patients with liver disease, and also when and how to undergo surgery.

Transplantation is a miracle and an effective therapy for organ failure, which is why I decided to specialize in transplant hepatology and gastroenterology. I completed my residencies in internal medicine at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research and at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Following my residencies, I completed fellowships in gastroenterology from Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, University of Pittsburgh and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

No machine can replace the clinical sense of the physician. I enjoy the art of interviewing and examining patients, which I enjoy teaching young physicians about. When I’m not practicing medicine, I enjoy reading about international history and international relations.
